If you're looking to exceed the typical 350-375 horsepower mark, you'll need more than the typical 160-170cc / stock chamber head. Airflow and usable rpm range are determined by intake runner volume and shape, respectively. Measuring 200cc in intake runner volume, Sportsman II cylinder heads deliver enough airflow to achieve up to 550 horsepower. World's smooth, tapered runner shape maintains airflow velocity to maximize low rpm torque. Exhaust runners are similarly enlarged and reshaped. Balanced, efficient airflow through the cylinder head results in maximum power throughout the rpm range. Fine tuning the Sportsman II for your application is simply a matter of proper intake manifold and camshaft selection. FAST BURN COMBUSTION CHAMBERS! Maximum combustion chamber
efficiency is achieved through a high swirl, heart shaped design. On the
Sportsman II, the spark plug boss is located close to the exhaust valve
and unshrouded. The intake section of the chamber is designed for complete
combustion. After burning, the spent gases are directed toward the exhaust
valve for maximum evacuation and scavenging. World Products casts the latest
airflow and combustion technology into affordable cast iron cylinder heads.

50 Ft-Lbs More Torque Than LS6! Hi-Torque 264cc Oval Port runners! Reinforced to resist cracks & Warpage! Integral Guides (not pressed-in like stock)! Unleaded Fuel Compatible. Integral webs tie rocker stud bosses and spring pockets together with the top deck for maximum strength. Added valve train stability improves power. Rocker stud bosses are machined for guide plates. Bolt holes above each exhaust port have been raised to unrestrict exhaust port airflow. Four 1" longer than stock head bolts per side (eight total) are required. These 1" longer than stock head bolts are available under World part # 7301 (set of 8). Spring pad depth accommodates most spring heights. Runners are smoothly shaped for maximum power. Valve cover rails are fully machined for a leak-free seal. Spring pockets accept 1.550" valve springs. Ample metal permits widening of spring pad diameter for 1.625" springs. +.100 longer than stock intake valves may be required for roller cam installed heights greater than 1.950". The spark plug boss is positioned close to the valves for efficient combustion. Fairings on either side of the spark plug boss create a "swirl effect." All valve seats receive 3 angle valve jobs to ensure proper valve sealing and airflow. All Merlin heads feature integral valve guides -- not hard to replace pressed-in guides.
